Project Spotlight: Kinney County Jail Gets a New Epoxy Floor
Our T.W. Hicks South Texas office – located in San Antonio, Texas – was proud to have worked on a recent flooring renovation project for the Kinney County Jail.
The Geo Group, whom we have worked with before, brought us in because the old floor in the commercial kitchen was failing and a new decorative epoxy flooring system was essential to a clean, functional, and aesthetically pleasing work space for the employees.
As experts in epoxy flooring in San Antonio, we knew exactly which products would fit the bill! Over the course of 5 days, a dated flooring system was transformed into a beautiful new floor that will last for years to come. Here are a few steps we went through to create the new flooring system:
In order to create the proper profile for adhesion, the existing concrete floor had to be shot blasted with electric shot blast equipment. We also keyed in all termination points, which will help with adhesion and provide a smooth transition between the various surfaces.
Apply New Epoxy Flooring
When choosing the new epoxy flooring for the Kinney County Jail, we knew Tnemec products were perfect for the job! We used Tnemec Series 245 base coat, Tnemec Series 222 build coat, and Tnemec Series 329 top coat for the job because they are ultra durable, chemical resistant, and can withstand the harsh conditions of a commercial kitchen without wear and tear on the flooring. Each layer was carefully applied, and then swept, vacuumed, and detailed thoroughly before a new layer was added.
T.W. Hicks enjoyed working with The Geo Group on this unique project, and we look forward to more opportunities to work with them in the future!
