Precision and Performance: Inside a Semiconductor Flooring Project

1.5 Million Square Feet of Performance

When a semiconductor manufacturer needed over 1.5 million square feet of durable, chemical-resistant flooring for their new fabrication plant in Sherman, Texas, they turned to T.W. Hicks, Inc. to deliver. The result: a fully integrated resinous flooring and coating system designed for long-term performance in one of the most demanding industrial environments imaginable.

A Seamless System for a Controlled Environment

Our team installed a complete resinous system across floors, curbs, trenches, sumps, pits, and electrical lids. The coatings were engineered for durability, cleanability, and chemical resistance — all essential in controlled manufacturing spaces. The scope included epoxy flooring systems, cove base, vertical coatings, concrete sealers, joints, and trench coatings.

Precision in Every Phase

Throughout the 543-day project, our crews of 8 to 25 members maintained consistent quality despite the diversity of substrates across the site. Each zone required custom adjustments in surface preparation and coating application. From mechanical shot blasting to heavy-duty slurry epoxy installations, precision was non-negotiable.

Safety Without Compromise

This project was completed with zero safety incidents — a milestone that reflects our company’s culture of accountability and care. Every crew member completed site-specific safety orientation, OSHA and silica training, and daily safety meetings. Full PPE, dust control, and ventilation were enforced throughout the project.

Innovation That Lasts

Understanding that the plant’s racetrack corridor would endure constant robotic and equipment traffic, our team collaborated with the general contractor and product manufacturer to upgrade these zones to a heavy-duty slurry epoxy. This enhancement ensures long-term performance even under the most rigorous production demands.

Built for the Future

The Semiconductor Fabrication Plant represents more than square footage. It’s proof of what’s possible when expertise, safety, and innovation come together.
