With spring season officially here, our warehouse flooring professionals at T.W. Hicks, Inc. in Denton and San Antonio, Texas offer these tips for spring-cleaning your warehouse!
Spring Break offers millions of Americans the opportunity to break from the normal routine of day-to-day business for some much needed rest and recuperation. For many, they use this time away to do some much-needed spring-cleaning, going through their belongings to get rid of the old and welcome the new. Warehouses can use the same attention and our commercial flooring professionals at T.W. Hicks, Inc. in Denton and San Antonio, Texas are here to offer some helpful tips for spring-cleaning your warehouse!
Like many who clean their home, it starts with organizing your existing inventory and deciding which items will stay and which will go! T.W. Hicks, Inc. suggests you consider which products you need to be most readily available and which can be put in a less-accessible area. We recommend organizing your warehouse layout with the 80/20 rule in mind. That is, organize 80% of your most-accessed and used inventory in area consisting of 20% of your warehouse. This area should be easy to get to and an area that can safely handle high traffic and is located in an area that cuts down travel time for pickers and processors!
Another method of considering warehouse organization is to ergonomically organize your warehouse inventory. A good rule of thumb is to keep heavy items and boxes at or below knee level and lighter or smaller items on higher shelves. This will help maintain safety and keep your workers free form accidents and injuries. Also, for high-volume items that are moved quite a bit, keep them in an area between the waist and shoulder height to ergonomically help those moving inventory.
When it comes to cleaning your warehouse floors, warehouses that have resin floors are the easiest to clean grit and dirt that has accumulated during regular business. Our team at T.W. Hicks, Inc. in Texas can provide tips for clean resinous flooring solutions. Contact our team for any help organizing and cleaning your warehouse during the spring season!
