Follow These Steps from T.W. Hicks, Inc. to Effectively and Safely Clean Your Epoxy Floor Coating!

Believe it or not, it takes proper technique to clean epoxy floors to avoid any damage to the coating, which is quite easy to do. Epoxy, of course, is waterproof and when handled correctly, cleans to a like-new surface very easily. However, dirt and debris that may build up on your epoxy floors can scratch the coating and scratched epoxy is not waterproof. Make sure you follow these specific steps from T.W. Hicks, Inc. to ensure you protect your epoxy coating and get the shine you’re looking for!

  • Prepare the Floor

You should always sweep any dirt and debrief off your epoxy coating as you go throughout your workday but you should specifically sweep your epoxy floors before cleaning it.

  • Mop the Floor

With a gallon of water and 1/3 cup of dish soap, you’ll have the perfect amount to clean your epoxy floor coating. It’s important to make sure your mop is made from synthetic fabric and not natural fibers which can get stuck on the epoxy coating. If you’re going to use a brush with any bristles, make sure the brush has soft bristles.

  • Dry the Floor

It’s important to remove any excess water remaining on the floor as to not allow any mold or mildew to form. Plus, wet epoxy coating is extremely slippery so use a foam squeegee to dry your clean floors.

These are some simple but effective tips to ensure your beautiful epoxy floor coating lasts for years to come in your work environment. Contact our team at T.W. Hicks, Inc. with any questions you might have regarding the care and maintenance of your industrial floors!
