Since 2005, Connor Sports has been the official provider of courts for NCAA conference basketball tournaments. Each court is custom designed and built for the NCAA tournaments in order to deliver maximum performance and safety. For this year's tournament, Connor Sports will be providing flooring for the American Athletic Men's and Women's courts at Amway Center and Mohegan Sun Arena, the Big East Men's Court at Madison Square Garden and All State Arena, the Big 12 Men's and Women's courts at Sprint Center and Chesapeake Energy Arena, the MAC Men's and Women's court at Quickens Loan Arena, and the Mountain West Conference Men's and Women's courts at Thomas and Mack Center, among others!
These official floors for NCAA tournaments are from Northern Rock maple trees grown in Northern Wisconsin. With a short growing season, this dense wood has the perfect rigidity for the basketball bounce and flexibility for the athletes' bodies. Once trees are selected, there is a thorough, two-month process before it's basketball ready, including drying the moisture content from around 45 percent to 16-18 percent before being cut into panels.
Once the tournament is complete, the floors are usually sold off to the winning teams. As for our team T.W.
