Training Highlights

Who better to learn from than the best?! Our 2-day training took place at our Dallas facility, giving the San Antonio crew the opportunity to learn from experts in their field of work. The Dallas crew was able to perform real-life demonstrations on the products and techniques we use daily. Getting everyone together in person not only provided an opportunity for greater understanding, but it also developed a camaraderie and team atmosphere amongst our Dallas and San Antonio crews. A few team members who led the charge included:

·      Ruben Cervantes: a veteran on our team, with 20 years of experience here at T.W. Hicks! He led the installation training.

·      Kurt Dreger: another veteran in the field, Kurt used his 20 years of experience to provide prep training.

·      Evan Dreger: an up-and-coming star on our team! Evan is young but talented, and we loved seeing him shine as he also led prep training. 

What was Included in the Training?

The training focused specifically on:

·      Concrete Preparation – Shot Blasting: This segment of the training focused on education surrounding shot blast equipment, sizes of shot blast equipment, power sources for the equipment, and sizes for shot media and the profile to expect. It also covered when shot blasting is the right choice for a preparation method and the pros and cons of this method of concrete preparation. 

·      Concrete Preparation – Diamond Grinding: This segment focused on understanding the different types of diamond grinding equipment, when to use different diamonds and cutters, and power sources for the diamond grinding equipment. Trainees were also able to see live demonstrations of the equipment and were trained on when to use diamond preparation and its pros and cons.

·      Warehouse Cleaning

·      Verdia Slope and Fill: Understanding of when to use sloping and filling material, how to figure sloping in a room, and installation information for Verdia Slope and Fill.

·      Verdia HF: Discuss when and how to use Verdia HF, how to determine coverage rates, and installation information for Verdia HF. 

Hands-on product and equipment demonstrations were provided in each of these categories.
