TW Hicks Completes Food-Grade Flooring Solutions at Lone Star Seafood

With over 30 years of experience in the commercial flooring industry, we know a thing or two about flooring solutions.

When potential clients come to us with flooring needs for aviation, food & beverage, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, automotive, and more, we almost immediately know which products to direct them toward for the highest quality product that will withstand years of heavy use.

Lone Star Seafood: A Need Food-Grade Flooring Solutions

When Lone Star Seafood approached us with a project at their facility in Stafford, Texas, we welcomed the opportunity to work on another project in the food and beverage industry. Some shy away from working with these projects because, unlike other industries, the flooring is subject to additional industry guidelines. Flooring used in food and beverage operations must adhere to strict codes set by the USDA, FDA, and OSHA (and for good reason).

For this particular project, Lone Star Seafood needed to install flooring throughout its 1,034 square feet facility, particularly focusing on a drain rebuild, a cooler area for frozen seafood, and a broadcast and topcoat for all.

The Verdia VerdeFloor System: USDA Certified & Perfect for the Job

Immediately, it became apparent that the right choice for the job was the Verdia VerdeFloor System. First of all, the VerdeFloor line is a “Certified Biobased Product.” What does that mean? It simply means that a large percentage of the product comes from renewable resources like agricultural, marine, or forestry materials. We love recommending products that are sustainable and good for reducing our carbon footprint. Other features that made the Verdia VerdeFloor System perfect for this job include:

·      Slip Resistance: When you are working in an environment with food or beverages that can spill, slip resistance is crucial for the safety and comfort of all.

·      Abrasion Resistance: Durability is crucial when installing new food-grade flooring solutions, and VerdeFloor is great because of its resistance to any knicks, tears, or gashes from regular use or heavy equipment.

·      Resists the Growth of Bacteria: When working with food and beverages, sanitation is of the utmost importance. This Verdia flooring fends off the growth of mold or bacteria, making it perfect for these spaces.

·      Chemical Resistance: Some floors are easily stained or warped when chemical spills occur, but not Verdia VerdeFloor!

·      Virtually Odorless: Unlike some other epoxy floors, VerdeFloor goes on with little-to-no scent to impede food production.
